The Construction sector in the Basque Country rose by 6.7% in the first quarter of 2018
Building was up by 6.1%, while Civil Works registered an increase of 11.7%
Construction activity in the Basque Country registered a year-on-year nominal rise of 6.7% in the first quarter of 2018, in homogeneous terms of the working calendar, according to data prepared by EUSTAT.
Once corrected for seasonal factors, the Construction sector grew by 2.7% in this first quarter of 2018 compared to the fourth quarter of 2017.
The rise in the Construction sector in this quarter was due to the positive performance of both the Building subsector, which registered a year-on-year upturn of 6.1%, and the Civil Works subsector, which grew by 11.7%.
In quarter-on-quarter terms, if the activity of the sector in the first quarter of 2018 is compared to the previous quarter, the Civil Works subsector posted an upturn of 8.1%, while the Building subsector rose by 2.0%.
Employment in the Construction sector saw an increase of 0.8% in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the fourth quarter of 2017.
