Total exports of goods from the Basque Country grew by 16.6% in October 2017, and non-energy exports were up by 11.4%
The balance of the first ten months of 2017 closed with 10.9% growth
There was a rise in exports of goods from the Basque Country of 16.6% in October 2017, according to EUSTAT data. They totalled 2,160 million euros compared to 1,852 million in the same month of the previous year. Energy product exports registered year-on-year growth of 74.5% and non-energy product exports grew by 11.4%. Exports in Bizkaia grew by 28.2%, in Gipuzkoa by 11.0% and in Álava by 8.6%.
In the accumulated rate for the first ten months of 2017, exports from the Basque Country stood at 19,870 million euros, 10.9% up on the same period in 2016. They increased by 10% in Álava, 20.4% in Bizkaia and by 4.0% in Gipuzkoa.
Imports of goodsfrom the Basque Country, for their part, experienced a rise of 25.0%, reaching the figure of 1,621 million euros. Energy imports increased by 48.6%, and non-energy imports by 18.9% Imports in Bizkaia were up by 30.8%, in Gipuzkoa by 17.5% and in Álava by 18.6%.
For the first ten months as a whole, imports grew by 23.1% compared to the same period of 2016, standing at 15,517 million euros.
The most sold product this month (9.3% of the total exported) was “Vehicles conceived principally for the transport of people (<10) with a diesel engine (from 1,500 cm3 to 2,500 cm3)”, with this product also occupying first place in the accumulated total for the year.
