Sales in large stores and food chains in the Basque Country rose by 3.4% in November 2017
The balance of the first eleven months of 2017 closed with 2.5% growth
Sales at large stores and food chains in the Basque Country in November 2017 experienced a year-on-year upturn at constant prices of 3.4% in homogenous terms of the working calendar, according to Eustat data. Compared to October, sales were up 2.4% in deseasonalised terms.
Sales of food products at large stores and food chains reflected a rise of 3.6%, and sales corresponding to other items were up by 3.1%.
There were rises in all three provinces: Bizkaia saw an increase of 4.0%, in Gipuzkoa there was a rise of 2.9% and in Álava sales were up by 2.6%.
Over the first eleven months of the year as a whole, sales in large stores and food chains in the Basque Country were up 2.5% with respect to the same period of the previous year, in homogeneous terms of the working calendar and at constant prices. In this period, food sales saw a 2.7% upturn overall, and other products saw an increase of 2.2%.
By province, in Bizkaia sales in the first eleven months of the year rose by 2.6% at constant prices and with respect to the same period of the previous year; they were up by 2.4% in Gipuzkoa, and in Álava a 2.2% rise was recorded.
The number of individuals employed in large stores and food chains in the Basque Country rose by 2.4% compared to the previous year.
