Total exports of goods from the Basque Country grew by 17.5% in September 2017, and non-energy exports grew by 13.3%
In the accumulated rate for the first nine months of 2017 the value of exports reached the highest figure of the last 10 years
There was a rise in exports of goods from the Basque Country of 17.5% in September 2017, according to EUSTAT data. They totalled 2,112 million euros compared to 1,797 million in the same month of the previous year. Exports of energy goods have increased 76.7% compared to the previous year and exports of non-energy products have increased by 13.3%. Exports in Bizkaia grew by 22.6%, in Gipuzkoa by 14.9% and in Álava by 13.5%.
In the accumulated rate for the first nine months of 2017, exports from the Basque Country stood at 17,710 million euros, the highest figure in the last 10 years and 10.2% up on the same period of 2016. Exports were up 6.6% in Álava, 19.5% in Bizkaia and 3.2% in Gipuzkoa, all on the accumulated rate for January to September 2016.
Imports of goodsfrom the Basque Country, for their part, experienced a rise of 27.4%, reaching the figure of 1,637 million euros. Energy imports increased by 79.5% and non-energy imports by 16.1%. Imports in Bizkaia grew by 31.1%, in Gipuzkoa by 22.3% and in Álava by 24.2%.
For the first nine months as a whole, imports grew by 22.9% compared to the same period of 2016, standing at 13,897 million euros.
