The Construction sector in the Basque Country grew by 0.5% in the third quarter of 2017
The accumulated total for the year showed 4.2% growth
Construction activity in the Basque Country registered a year-on-year nominal upturn of 0.5% in the third quarter of 2017, in homogeneous terms of the working calendar, according to data prepared by EUSTAT.
The rise in the Construction sector in this quarter was due to the positive performance of the Building subsector, which registered a year-on-year upturn of 1.9%, whereas the Civil Works subsector contracted by 9.1%.
Once corrected for seasonal effects, the Construction sector dropped by 1.2% in the third quarter of 2017 compared to the second quarter of the same year.
In quarter-on-quarter terms the sub-sectors of Building and Civil Works both registered a downward trend. The Building sub-sector index saw a decrease of 0.9%, whereas the Civil Works sub-sector fell by 3.1%.
For the accumulated period of the three quarters of 2017, the Basque Country Construction sector was up 4.2% on the same period of 2016.
Employment in the Construction sector saw an increase of 1.7% in the third quarter of 2017 compared to the second quarter of 2017.
