The Construction sector in the Basque Country fell by 0.9% in the third quarter of 2015

Building grew for the third consecutive quarter, whilst Civil Works contracted

Construction activity in the Basque Country registered a year-on-year nominal downturn of 0.9% in the third quarter of 2015, in homogeneous terms of the working calendar, according to EUSTAT data.

The two Construction subsectors performed differently in the third quarter of 2015: Building saw a 2.9% upturn, as in the two preceding quarters, whilst Civil Works saw a year-on-year fall of 18.8%.

Once corrected for seasonal effects, the Construction sector was down by 1.4% in the third quarter of 2015 compared to the second quarter of the same year. By subsector, Building remained unchanged (0.0%), whereas the Civil Works subsector posted a negative downturn of 9.6%.

Employment in the Construction sector experienced a decrease of 1.1% in the third quarter of 2015 compared to the second quarter of 2015.
