Expenditure on R&D in 2013 decreased by 4.9% in the Basque Country
R&D personnel in equivalent-to-full-time positions, for its part, fell by 0,7%
In 2013, expenditure on Scientific Research and Technological Development activities (R&D) fell by 4.9% in the Basque Country, according to provisional data provided by Eustat. Similarly, R&D personnel in equivalent-to-full-time positions dropped by 0.7%.
These expenditure and R&D personnel figures are based on the performance of their implementation sectors:
* The main sector, Business (75.8% of the total in 2012), decreased in both internal expenditure, -5.6%, and in personnel for R&D activities, -1.6%.
* In Higher Education, expenditure decreased by 3.2%, whereas R&D personnel was up by 1.3%.
* Lastly, in the Public Administration sector expenditure was down by 2.0%, whereas the number of personnel dedicated to R&D was up by 15%.
Methodological note: Eustat has produced Advance Data on the evolution of expenditure and R&D personnel in 2013. In order to do this, universities and bodies that together represent 83% of the total expenditure obtained the previous year have been taken into account, allowing an advance of the results that will be presented in a definitive form in November of this year to be brought forward to June.
