The turnover of the construction sector in the Basque Country fell by 17.1% in 2012
Personnel employed decreased by 10.6%
The construction sector kept falling in 2012 with new drops in the net turnover figure, down 17.1% and in personnel employed, down 10.6%, which started in 2009.
At a territorial level, the general behaviour was repeated, with general falls in employment and added value, in a similar magnitude to that which occurred in the Basque Country, with the province of Álava presenting a greater downturn, both in personnel employed, down 12.5%, and in Gross Value Added at factor costs, down 25.3%.
Concerning sales distribution according to the end-use of the built property, 57% of the turnover in the construction sector came from the building subsector in 2012, and the remainder was divided fairly equally between civil works, 22%, and promotion, 20%.
25% of the construction sector was dedicated to new residential works and 13% to the renovation of residential buildings. New civil works amounted to 15% of the sector.
