Construction costs in the Basque Country fell by 0.3% in October 2013 compared to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, construction costs were also down by 0.2% on October 2012
There was a 0.3% fall in the Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country in October 2013 compared to the previous month, whilst the year-on-year rate for the same month was down by 0.2%, according to data provided by EUSTAT.
With regards to the previous month, labour costs witnessed no variation (0.0%), whereas raw material costs fell by 0.4%.
The Building and Civil Works sub-sectors posted the same evolution but at a different intensity as regards the cost of their raw materials in October. With respect to the previous month, Building raw materials fell 0.3% and Civil Works raw materials were down 0.8%. The year-on-year evolution of these two sub-sectors illustrates that costs of raw materials in Building fell 0.3%, whilst costs in Civil Works were down by 1.8%.
The prices of raw materials consumed, by sector, that recorded the biggest reductions in their annual prices (October 2013 on October 2012) include prices of raw materials in the Oil Refining (-6.7%), Metallurgy (-5.5%) and Electrical Material (-1.7%) sectors. However, the biggest price rises over the last twelve months were in raw materials in the Non-metal Industry (4.4%), Plastic & Rubber (3.8%) and Machinery (2.2%) sectors, amongst others.
