Alto Deba is the region that stands out in terms of the percentage of companies of 10 or more employees that use information technology
However, there were no large differences between capitals or regions, with all of them showing a high percentage of CIT equipment
Companies of 10 or more employees in the Basque Country, with the exception of the use of e-Commerce, showed high levels of CIT (Information & Communication Technology) equipment in 2013, especially in the region of Alto Deba, according to data provided by Eustat.
In companies of this size with an Internet connection, the regions of Montaña Alavesa in Álava, with 100%, Alto Deba in Gipuzkoa, with 99.7% and Encartaciones in Bizkaia, with 99,6%, all stood out.
Companies of 10 or more employees with internet access and who carry out procedures with public administrations in electronic form were more numerous in the regions of Alto Deba in Gipuzkoa (98.7%), Encartaciones in Bizkaia (97.6%) and Montaña Alavesa in Álava (95.5%).
As regards Internet presence via a website, special mention should be made of companies in the regions of Alto Deba in Gipuzkoa (91.2%), Cantábrica Alavesa in Álava (85.8%) and Duranguesado in Bizkaia (85.3%).
In terms of computer networks, the regions of Estribaciones del Gorbea in Álava, (99.7%), Alto Deba in Gipuzkoa (99.5%) and Arratia-Nervión in Bizkaia, (98.7%) all stood out.
Furthermore, the highest percentages of companies with 10 or more employees using open-source programs were in Cantábrica Alavesa in Álava (87.3%), Urola Costa in Gipuzkoa (86.0%) and Markina-Ondarroa in Bizkaia(83.6%).
Lastly, regarding the use of e-Commerce (purchases or sales via electronic means), in companies of this size, although the percentages reached were considerably lower, it is worth mentioning the regions of Urola Costa in Gipuzkoa (39.9%), Markina-Ondarroa in Bizkaia (37.0%) and Montaña Alavesa in Álava (35.2%).
Availability of Basque on Basque company websites
Websites available in Basque were most prominent in companies located in the regions of Gipuzkoa. Thus, in this province they reached 74% of those found in companies in Alto Deba, 65.8% of those in Goierri and 63.5% of those in Urola Costa, exceeding 50% in the other regions of Gipuzkoa.
Following these were those in Bizkaia, where it was possible to access the language in over half of the websites situated in Gernika-Bermeo and in Markina-Ondarroa.
Lastly, in Álava Montaña Alavesa stood out, where 49.1% of websites were available in Basque, with this percentage dropping in the other regions.
In the Basque capitals, there were similar percentages of CIT equipment in companies of 10 or more employees. It was only in Donostia-San Sebastián that websites available in Basque stood out, where their percentage is higher.
