Construction costs in the Basque Country rose 0.3% in April 2013 compared to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, April 2012, there was no variation in construction costs (0.0%)
The Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country rose by 0.3% in April 2013 with regards to the previous month, whilst there was no appreciable variation in the year-on-year rate (0.0%) for the same month, according to data provided by EUSTAT.
With regards to the previous month, in April 2013 labour costs witnessed no variation (0.0%), whereas there was a 0.4% rise in the cost of raw materials.
The subsectors of Building and Civil Works showed a different evolution in the cost of raw materials in April with regards to the previous month: Building costs were up by 0.5% whilst those of Civil Works fell by 0.1%. The year-on-year evolution of these two sub-sectors illustrates that costs of raw materials in Building fell by 0.1%, whilst there was a greater decrease in costs in Civil Works of 1.5%.
Machinery (2.6%), Non-Metal Industry (2.5%) and Electrical Material (1.1%) stood out amongst the sectors that experienced the highest inflation rates over the last twelve months regarding prices of raw materials. In contrast, greater reductions in annual prices (April 2013 on April 2012) were witnessed in the raw materials of the Oil Refining, (-6.9%), Metallurgy (-4.2%) and Non-metal Mineral Products (-1.4%) sectors.
