Construction costs in the Basque Country rose 1.0% in January 2013 compared to the previous month
Over the last twelve months (January 2012 to January 2013) construction costs registered a 0.2% increase
There was a 1.0% rise in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in January 2013 compared to the previous month, whilst the year-on-year rate for the same month rose by 0.2%, according to data provided by EUSTAT.
With regards to the previous month, in January 2012 labour costs witnessed no variation (0.0%), whereas there was a 1.3% rise in the cost of raw materials.
The subsectors of Building and Civil Works showed a different evolution in the cost of raw materials in January: Building costs rose by 1.1% whilst those of Civil Works rose by 1.8%, compared to the previous month. The year-on-year evolution of these two sub-sectors illustrates that costs of raw materials in Building rose by 0.3%, whilst costs in Civil Works were down by 0.1%.
Amongst the prices of raw materials consumed by the sector that experienced the highest degree of inflation over the course of the last twelve months, special mention should be made of raw materials in the sectors of Machinery (5.3%), Electricity, Gas & Steam (3.2%) and Electric Material (2.4%), amongst others. In contrast, the greatest falls in annual prices (January 2013 on January 2012) were witnessed in the prime materials of the sectors of Metallurgy (-2.7%), Extraction of Non-metal Mineral Products (-0.9%), and Oil Refining (-0.5%), amongst others.
