CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX (ICCE) JUNE 2009
Construction costs in the Basque Country fell by 0.7% in June 2009 compared to the previous month
Over the last twelve months (June 2009 compared to June 2008) building costs registered a 1.5% decrease
The Construction Costs Index posted a 0.7% decrease in the Basque Country in June 2009 with respect to the previous month, which meant that the year-on-year rate for that month fell by 1.5%, according to data facilitated by EUSTAT.
Changes in the year-on-year rate, 1997-2009
In June 2009, labour costs remained unchanged (0.0%), whereas raw material costs decreased by 0.9%, compared to the previous month.
In December, the cost of raw materials in the Building and Civil Works sub-sectors evolved differently, with a 0.2% increase compared to the previous month in Civil Works, while the costs of raw materials for Building fell by 1.1%, in month-on-month terms. There were notable differences between both sub-sectors during the year: Building raw material costs fell by 0.9%, whereas those for Civil Works accumulated a 8.7% decrease.
Amongst the prices of raw materials consumed by the sector that experienced the highest inflation rates over the last twelve months were: Water (7.4%), Non-metallic Minerals (4.0%), Furniture Production (3.0%) and Machinery (1.6%). On the other hand, the raw materials of Oil By-products (-34.5%), Metallurgy (-25.8%), Timber Industry (-4.5%) and Electrical Equipment (-3.9%) registered the greatest fall in their annual prices (June 2009 compared to June 2008).
