CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX (ICCE) FEBRUARY 2009
Construction costs in the Basque Country were down by 0.4% in February 2009 on the previous month
Over the last twelve months (February 2009 compared to February 2008) building costs registered a 1.9% increase
The Construction Costs Index registered a 0.4% decrease in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country in February 2009 with respect to the previous month which meant that the year-on-year rate for that month came to 1.9%, according to data facilitated by EUSTAT.

In February 2009, labour costs remained unchanged (0.0%), whereas raw material costs decreased by 0.5%.
In February, the cost of the raw materials in the Building and Civil Works sub-sectors both performed in a similar way, with a 0.5% fall compared to the previous month posted by Building, while raw materials for Civil Works were down by 0.7%. There were notable differences between both sub-sectors during the year: Building raw material costs rose by 3.0%, whereas those for Civil Works accumulated a 3.0% decrease.
Amongst the prices of raw materials consumed by the sector that experienced the highest inflation rates over the last twelve months were: Water (7.4%), Metallic and Non-metallic Minerals (6.9%), Furniture Production (6.0%) and Chemical Industry (3.2%). On the other hand, there was a decrease in the annual prices (February 2009 compared to February 2008) of Oil By-products (-30.3%),Metallurgy (-6.9%) and Electricity and Gas (-0.9%).
