The General Index of Construction Costs in the A.C. of the Basque Country did not change in value in July 2002, according to Eustat data. The inter-annual variation, July 2002 in relation July 2001, sets the increase in costs at 2.0% and the rate for the first seven months of the year on last December shows an increase of 2.6%.

In July, both raw material costs and the cost of labour remained stable in relation to previous values. However, over the inter-annual period, labour costs registered a 4.0% increase compared with a 0.7% increase in raw materials.
The subsectors "Building" and "Civil Works" evolved similarly in July, as raw material costs were stable for the former (0.0%) and decreased 0.1% for the latter. These slight differences continued to appear in the inter-annual evolution, as raw material costs for these two subsectors reached a rate of 0.7% for "Building" and 0.6% for "Civil Works" in July, in relation to the same month the previous year.
Among the prices of raw materials consumed by the sector that decreased most in July 2002 were: "Asphalt products" (-3.4%), "Explosives and gases" (-1.9%) and "Oils and greases" (-1.6%), among others.
The inter-annual evolution of prices shows significant increases among the costs of the following products consumed: "Accessories for used machinery " (5.2%), "Paint and varnish" (5.1%), "Work clothing" (4.2%), " Artificial cement " (4.2%) and "Other metal articles" (4.1%); among others.
