New EPDS method to measure maintenance poverty:

The application of the orginal method introduced in the EPDS to calculate maintenance poverty is based on the following three steps:

Step one: Calculation adjusted for general Leyden thresholds (Leyden or SPL method) in order to determine which household make up the lower 50% in the distribution of equivalent income per capita
Step two: Elimination, within 50% of households with lower income, of the extreme behaviour groups in relation to required expenses/minimums.
Step three: Calculation of poverty and absence of absence of welfare thresholds by age groups (under 45s, 45-64 years age group and those aged over 65).
