Main diagnosis

The pathological process or condition that, following the relevant study and according to the criteria of the physician, is considered to be the main cause or reason for the patient's admission to hospital.

From 2016 onwards diagnoses are codified using the ICD-10-ES edition. The ICD-9-CM was used for codification up until 2015.
