Separation

Separation

This is a judicial decision that results in the end of cohabitation, and the start of separate, independent lives. Separation does not break the marital bond, which only comes about through death or divorce. This may be sought by both spouses or one of them, and at least three months must have elapsed after the marriage for it to be possible.
