The Environmental Goods and Services Account (EGSA) for the Basque Country includes employment measured as full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs. Employment covers all persons engaged in productive activity (ESA, 2010). Persons employed by an enterprise, persons who are temporarily out of work (provided that they have a formal work relationship) and self-employed workers are considered to be employed.

Employment in activities covered by the EGSA includes all persons who are engaged in a productive activity in the environmental goods and services sector. If a producer engages in environmental and non-environmental activities, employment is split between the environmental and non-environmental parts. Only the part related to environmental products is included in the EGSA.
