Production account (C.1.)
The Production Account (C.1.) displays the transactions related to the actual production process. It is produced for both the institutional sectors themselves and the activity branches. Its resources include production, and its uses include intermediate consumption.
The Production Account can be used to calculate one of the most important balances of the system, the added/generated value for each unit that is dedicated to a certain productive activity, as well as an essential aggregate: the Gross Domestic Product.
Added value is economically significant for both the institutional sectors and the activity branches.
For the economy as a whole, the Production Account comprises resources, along with the production of goods and services, such as taxes less subsidies on products, which allow us to obtain the gross domestic product (at market prices) as an account balance.
