Includes the cultivation of mushrooms in buildings which have been built or adapted for that purpose, or in underground premises, such as caves, grottos and/or cellars.
They are not produced on arable land, but in special buildings or cellars. Production takes place in stratified structures and for some species/varieties, it does not even take place on level ground, but, for example, on tree logs.
The area refers to the effective growing surface areas (beds, bags, growing shelves or similar surfaces) which are used or will be used at least once during the 12-month reference period. Even if the area is used more than once, it is still only counted once.
In the case of mushrooms grown on logs outdoors, the entire area, including the spaces between the logs, must be taken into account.
Includes button mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, oyster mushrooms and king trumpet mushrooms.
