Total area (TA) of the agricultural holding

The total area of the holding comprises the area of all the plots of land that make up the holding: the area owned by the holder, the area rented from others for farming and the area farmed under other forms of tenure. Areas owned by the holder that are assigned to third parties are excluded.

The Total Area of the agricultural holding is comprised of the following types of area:

- Utilised Agricultural Area, both outdoors and under glass (arable land, permanent grassland, permanent crops and kitchen gardens)

- Other agricultural land: unutilised agricultural area, wooded area and other areas, such as threshing floors, buildings and facilities, quarries, tracks, etc., included on the holding.

- Special areas on the holding: Mushrooms grown in buildings designed for that purpose, as well as in underground premises, caves, grottos and cellars.
