The degree of participation is defined synthetically, bearing in mind the response to each item or household chore -carried out or not carried out - excluding Care of People in the Home, giving four categories The reference population for the analysis of housework in the period prior to 2004 was the population aged 13 and over and from 2004 onwards it is the population aged 16 and over.

The household chores included are:

  • Shopping for food and household products

  • Preparation of meals

  • Washing-up

  • Preparation of clothing (sewing, washing ironing)

  • Cleaning the house

  • Other statistical products
