Organic farming (Survey on the structure of agricultural farms)
Utilised Agricultural Area of the holding on which organic farming production methods are used in accordance with certain rules and regulations specified in Regulation (EC) No. 834/2007 or Regulation (EU) 2018/848, and the corresponding national implementing regulations applicable to organic farming, including during the conversion period.
The terms biological farming and ecological farming are synonyms of organic farming, but integrated farming is not organic farming.
Organic UAA can be categorised into certified UAA and UAA under conversion.
Utilised Agricultural Area (UAA) in organic farming
Areas of arable crops, permanent crops and permanent grassland used for organic farming.
The organic UAA is studied for the following crops:
CROPS IN GREENHOUSES OR IN HIGH SHELTERS:
- Vegetables, melons, and strawberries
- Remaining greenhouse crops
CROPS IN THE OPEN AIR AND/OR UNDER SHELTER:
- Cereals for grain production
- Dry legumes and protein crops for grain production
- Roots and tubers
- Industrial crops
- Crops harvested in green
- Vegetables, melons, and strawberries
- Seeds and seedlings intended for sale
- Remaining herbaceous crops in arable land
- Citrus
- Fruit trees and berries (except citrus, grapes, and strawberries)
- Olive grove
- Grape vineyard for winemaking
- Remainder of permanent crops
- Permanent pastures
