Areas of the holding comprising unutilised agricultural area, wooded area and other areas occupied by buildings, farmyards, tracks, ponds, quarries, barren land, rocky areas, etc.
It is land which, belonging to the holding, forms part of the Total Area (TA), but does not constitute what is known as Utilised Agricultural Area (UAA).
Unutilised agricultural area
Areas of land previously used for agricultural purposes, but which, during the reference year, are no longer worked or used in the crop rotation system, i.e. land not put to agricultural use.
Other arable land NOT used in the agricultural year (not including fallow land).
Areas which, although agricultural, have not been used for economic, social or other similar reasons.
This land could be brought back into cultivation using the resources normally available on an agricultural holding. The difference from fallow land is that this land is not considered by the farmer as part of the rotation.
Wooded area
Areas of land covered with trees or forest shrubs, including poplar groves and similar plantations, whether inside or outside forests, as well as forest nurseries located in woodland and used for the agricultural holding's own needs, and forest facilities (forest roads, timber yards, etc.).
Where agricultural crops are combined with wooded area, the area is divided proportionally to the land use (combined crops).
Other non-productive areas
These are areas which, although not used directly for agricultural production, are necessary for work on the holding, such as land occupied by buildings, threshing floors, structures, warehouses, yards, tracks, ponds, etc.
It also includes areas not fit for agricultural production, i.e. areas that can only be cultivated with the help of very powerful resources that are not normally found on the holding (quarries, barren land, lagoons, etc.).
