Symmetric Table

Symmetric Table

The Symmetric Table is a matrix based on the Origin and Destination Tables where all information for the latter two tables is condensed, but shown by homogenous or pure activity branch. Homogenous branches are those that only show the main production of the activity branch and the intermediate consumption associated with that main production. To construct it, all existing domestic production of the main product of each branch (the one with the highest value in the branch) is moved (from the other branches) to that branch. Similarly, the structure of the intermediate consumption associated with its homogenous production is shown for each branch. To do this, the intermediate consumption associated only with the pure production of each homogenous branch is isolated.
