Economic sectors (Population in relation to activity)

This corresponds to the kind of activity the business, company or other economic unit in which a person carries out his main occupation during the reference web, or in the case of the unemployed who have worked before, the activity of the business or company where they carried out their last job.

They are classified as four sectors of Economic Activity: Agriculture, Industry, Construction and Services.

Until the year 2000 the following Divisions corresponded to the National Classification of Economic Activities-1993 (CNAE-93): Agriculture to Division 0, Industry to Divisions 1-4, Construction to Division 5, and Services to Divisions 6-9.

From the first quarter of 2001, the National Classification of Economic Activities-1993 (CNAE-93) has been used and it maintains the previous four sectors, which will basically be comparable in both classifications. The sectors correspond in the following way: Agriculture-Fishing to Sections A and B, industry to Sections C-E, Construction to Section F and Services to Sections G-Q.

The CNAE-93 Rev-1 does not affect the operation because at 3 digits there are no changes.

From the first quarter of 2009, the PRA codes economic activity with the new Classification of Activities CNAE-2009. The correspondence by sectors is the following: Agriculture, A, Industry B-E, Construction F and Services G-U.
