Staff working for sub-contracted firms (cleaning, laundry etc.) are not included, neither are staff undergoing training (M.I.R., A.TS.).

Staff working on 31-XII during the reference year of the statistic are included and not the number of Staff positions.

Not included in this section are:

  • Seconded staff, registered in another institution.

  • Staff on extended leave.

  • Staff who, due to temporary leave, have been substituted.

    On the other hand, staff working in the establishment on a temporary contract or who have been seconded are included.

  • Total personnel.- This is the sum of the directors, management, care-workers and non care-workers.

    • Medical personnel: includes the following categories:

      • Doctors. All doctors who work in the hospital, regardless of their position (Head of service, etc.) neither M.I.R nor voluntary staff, nor scholarship holders are included in this section.
      • Other specialists. All specialists not mentioned above are included in this section (preventive medicine, odontologists).
      • On Call. Doctors who are exclusively on call.
      • Other higher qualified staff: carrying out health-care work.- Physicists, biologists, pharmacists, etc., who provide a service to the hospital.
      • A.T.S. y D.E. Registered and enrolled nurses. Matrons and physiotherapists are included in the corresponding sections.
      • Health technicians. Second level professional training providing assistance (pathological anatomy, laboratory, etc.).
    • Non-healthcare staff: includes the following categories:

      • Directors and management. Personnel devoted exclusively to the management and administration of the hospital. A doctor who carries out management and administration duties along with healthcare work counts as medical staff and does not feature under this heading to avoid double counting.
      • Higher Technicians. Higher qualified technicians who carry out administration and general service work.
      • Medium level technicians. Technicians with medium level qualifications who carry out administration and general service work.
      • Administrative workers. Administrative assistants and administrative workers.
      • Qualified tradesmen. Second level professional training, not including branches of healthcare.
    • Other personnel. Personnel connected to the centre not included in the sections above.
