Tipe of family

Bearing in mind the existence or otherwise of the family nucleus the following types of family are considered:

Without nucleus

  • Single person: does not have a family nucleus and consists of only one person.

  • Compound: does not have a family nucleus either, and is formed by two or more persons, who may or may not be related.

  • Nuclear

  • Nucleus without children: a nuclear family made up of a couple without children.

  • Nucleus with children: a nuclear family made up of a couple with children who do not have their own nucleus.

  • Single parent: a nuclear family made up of a single father or mother with children who do not have their own nucleus.

  • Extended: a family nucleus of any kind in which one or several related members live together.

  • Polynuclear: two or more family nuclei.
