This is made up of individuals who are in paid employment or perform an independent activity, and have worked at least one hour in the reference week or those who have not done so but maintain a formal link with their employment. The existence of a formal link is determined by receipt of some kind of remuneration or by planning to return to work within a period of less than 3 months.
