Concepts and Definitions

The female youth employment rate of the 16 to 24 year-old population is calculated by dividing the number of employed individuals in the 16 to 24 year age group by the total population in this age range. The indicator is based on the Population Survey in Relation to Activity (PRA). The survey covers all of the population living in “households” and excludes those who live in collective dwellings, such as shelters, student residences, hospitals, etc. The employed population is made up of the individuals who carried out some kind of paid work during the reference week (either salary or benefit) for at least one hour, or who did not work (in the reference week) but had a job from which they were temporarily absent.

Calculation type:

The indicator is obtained as a quotient and expressed as a percentage.

Numerator:

Employed female population aged 16 to 24

Female population aged 16 to 24
