Objectives
This indicator shows the level of spending on pharmaceutical and healthcare products by the healthcare system of a province per inhabitant regardless of sex, age and socioeconomic status in a given year.
Spending on medicine is one of the major components of healthcare expenditure, which justifies the special attention it is given.
The indicator is measured in PPP (purchasing power parity) units, which is the monetary exchange rate equal to the purchasing power of the various currencies, eliminating distortions created by differing price levels between countries and allowing spending to be compared internationally.
