Methodological datasheet: Greenhouse Gas Effect Inventory.

Identification

Description.
Basque Country total GGE index (direct emissions + imported electricity)
Description and source 1 operation code.
090205 (plan 2010-2012) Greenhouse Gas Effect Inventory.
Responsable entity.
Department of Environment, Regional Planning & Housing. Basque Governmen
Availability.
Year t+2.
Indicator formula.
Millions of equivalent tons of CO2 for the six greenhouse gases included in the Kyoto protocol: carbon dioxide (CO2); methane (CH4); nitric acid (N2=); hydroflurocarbons (HFC); perfluorcarbons (PFC) and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6).
The total emissions are shown as index numbers with 1990 base year for the CO2, CH4 and N20 emissions and 1995 base year for the HFC, PFC and SF6 emissions.
The equivalent amount of CO2 from imported electriticity is added to the direct emissions.

Objectives

To provide information on Greenhouse Gas emissions (GGE) in the Basque Country in ordeer to control the monitoring of the fulfilment of the targets established in the Basque Plan to combat Climate Change Plan in relation to the Kyoto Protocol.

Sphere

Population:

The field of application of the Greenhouse Gas Effect Inventory are the direct and total anthropogenic emissions of the gasses controlled by the Kyoto Protocol The six greenhouse gases included in the Kyoto Protocol are cabon dioxide (CO2), methande (CH4), nitric oxide (N2o), hydroflurocarbons (HFC), perlfurocarbons (PFC) and sulphu hexafluoride (SF6). The emissions of the base year are the sum of the 1990 CO2, CH4 and N20 emissions and the 1995 HFC, PFC and SF6 emissions.

Geographical Sphere:

The Autonomous Community of the Basque Country

Time period:

Anual.
