Objectives
To know the number, the socio-demographic profile, living conditions and difficulties to access accommodation faced by the homeless.
Scope
- Population and geographic area:
- The population under investigation (target population) is composed of homeless people, aged 18 and over, who live in municipalities of more than 20,000 inhabitants and who go, at least once in the temporary reference period of the survey, to centres offering accommodation and/or catering services.
- Geographic area:
- Provinces of the Basque Country.
- Time frame:
- The reference period of eight weeks has been established. It is considered that this period should coincide with the winter season taking into account the nature of the study.

Sampling design
A two-stage sampling is used, stratified in the first stage units.
The first stage units are the centres that provide their accommodation and catering services to the population under study.
As a framework of primary units, the directory of centers obtained from the statistics of resources for homeless people (code 061006) is used.
The second stage units are the people who demand services in the care centers. Some 1,000 interviews will be conducted with the users of these centres.
