Objectives

The generic objective of the E.N.D.V. aims to know the development of housing needs and potential supply. It is a basic source of information for the system of monitoring indicators for housing policy.

This operation deals with the following sections in particular:

  • Quantification of housing needs and supply according to type (first access, change and renovation)
  • Socio-residential characteristics, reasons and adjustment of need.
  • Characteristics of houses required.
  • Financial capacity of people in need of housing.
  • Perception of the real estate market situation and housing policy.

Coverage

Population:
The population that is subject to this study is the over 18 population restricted, for methodological reasons, to individuals with some kind of income and maximum age of 44..
Geographic scope:
The territorial area of this survey is the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country with a maximum level of disaggregation of results referring to municipalities with over 40,000 inhabitants
Timeframe:
The timeframe of the survey on Housing Needs and Supply is annual. This annual survey is combined with quarterly monitoring my means of a panel extracted from the basic survey.

Sample desing

In order to get more adjusted information on the housing needs of a group in which, due to the age of this group (over 18 and resident in the parents' home) all the components would be susceptible to expressing need, the population was restricted to individuals with some kind of income and a maximum age of 44.

A sample of 3,000 homes was extracted for the whole of the Autonomous Community, looking for those representative of functional, capital and municipal areas of over 40,000 inhabitants. The sample was weighted according to the population weight of each capital or municipality.
