Sample design
The Information Society Survey - ESI - primary sector, is a survey whose findings are collected through two sub samples, one for agricultural holdings and the other for the fishing sector.
In the 2016 edition the sample design has been modified. From this period onwards, the sample will be specifically targeted at establishments whose main activity is within the primary sector, differing from previous editions which also included units for whom this activity was secondary or who simply owned agricultural assets.
The current sample design, used for agricultural holdings, consists of around 1,100 farms, while that used by the fishing sector is comprised of approximately 100 establishments.
The information was collected via an on line questionnaire or telephone interview for the agricultural part and via a personal interview in the case of the fishing sector.
