In general terms, the Family Environment Survey (EMAF) seeks to investigate households' habits, consumption guidelines and attitudes towards the environment, fitting out houses and their use in terms of the different environmental aspects so that household environmental policies can be established (energy saving, reducing energy consumption, waste separation,...). The study also enables comparable indicators by Autonomous Communities to be obtained. The final objective, but not a priority, would also be to ensure comparability with other countries that have conducted studies of this type.
