The Construction sector in the Basque Country grew by 13.1% in the second quarter of 2018
Accumulated growth in the first quarter of 2018 was 10.0%
Construction activity in the Basque Country registered a year-on-year nominal upturn of 13.1% in the second quarter of 2018, in homogeneous terms of the working calendar, according to data prepared by EUSTAT.
The rise in the Construction sector in this quarter was due to the positive performance of both the Building subsector, which registered a year-on-year upturn of 13.7%, and the Civil Works subsector, with an increase of 8.1%.
Once corrected for seasonal effects, in the second quarter of 2018 the Construction sector grew by 4.1% compared to the first quarter of 2018.
In quarter-on-quarter terms, if the activity of the sector in the second quarter of 2018 is compared to the previous quarter, the Building subsector posted an upturn of 4.7%, whereas the Civil Works subsector fell by 0.7%.
Employment in the Construction sector saw an increase of 1.7% in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the first quarter of 2018.
Balance of the first quarter of 2018
The balance for the first quarter of 2018 closed with growth of 10.0% in the Construction sector in the Basque Country, with both the Building and Civil Works subsectors registering similar rates of growth.
