The GDP of the Basque Country registered 3.1% year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2018
Employment consolidated its positive performance and grew at a year-on-year rate of 2.2%
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Basque Country posted a year-on-year growth of 3.1% in the first quarter of 2018, once corrected for calendar and seasonal effects, according to the advance data prepared by EUSTAT. This growth is one tenth higher than in the fourth quarter of 2017.
With regards to the previous quarter, the quarter-on-quarter variation rate was 0.8%, also one tenth higher than in the previous quarter.

From the perspective of supply, the positive year-on-year and quarter-on quarter growth of the first quarter of 2018 is due to the good aggregated performance of industry, construction and the services sector, which again posted a positive performance, accentuating the growth registered in previous periods.
Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, has increased by 2.2% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, strengthening the growth registered in previous quarters. Quarter-on-quarter growth was 0.5%.
