Construction costs in the Basque Country rose 0.2% in November 2010 compared to the previous month
Over the last twelve months (November 2010 compared to November 2009) building costs rose by 0.9%
The Construction Costs Index of the Basque Country rose by 0.2% in November 2010 with respect to the previous month, which meant that the year-on-year rate for that month increased by 0.9%, according to EUSTAT data.
In November 2010, labour costs remained unchanged (0.0%), whereas the costs of raw material rose by 0.2%.
The Building and Civil Works sub-sectors saw their raw material rise in price in November, with a 0.2% increase in Building costs compared to the previous month and 0.5% in the case of Civil Works. There were differences between the year-on-year performance of both sub-sectors: building raw material costs rose by 0.3%, whereas those for Civil Works accumulated a 2.9% increase.
Metallurgy (15.1%), Oil Refinery (14.4%), Electricity and Gas (4.3%) and Rubber & Plastic (3.3%) stood out among the prices of raw materials consumed by the sector that had experienced the highest inflation rates over the last twelve months. On the other hand, the annual prices (November 2010 compared to November 2009) of raw materials decreased in the following sectors: Non-metallic Minerals (-2.6%), Timber Industry (-1.1%), Non-Metal Industry (-0.1%) and Furniture Production (-0.1%).
