CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX (ICCE) MAY 2009
Construction costs in the A.C. of the Basque Country rose by 0.2% in May 2009 in relation to the previous month
Over the twelve-month period (May 2009 in relation to May 2008) construction costs experienced a 0.3% decrease
The Construction Costs Index for the Basque Country registered a 0.2% rise in May 2009 with regard to the previous month, bringing the inter-annual rate for the month down to 0.3%, according to EUSTAT data.

In May 2009, compared to the previous month, labour costs registered no variation whatsoever (0.0%), while raw material costs showed a 0.3% increase.
In May the inter-monthly rates for the sub-sectors of Building and Civil Works registered a fairly similar evolution in the cost of their raw materials, with a 0.6% rise in relation to the previous month in the area of Civil Works and one of 0.2% in the raw materials costs of Building. In the annual evolution of these two sub-sectors, however, noticeable differences could be seen: the raw material costs of Building grew by 0.7%, while those of Civil Works accumulated a 7.6% decrease.
Among the prices of raw materials consumed by the sector to experience the highest rates of inflation over the twelve-month period were: Water (7.4%), Non-Metal Minerals (6.2%), Furniture manufacture (3.4%) and Electric energy and gas (2.0%). Contrarily, reductions were registered in the annual prices (May 2009 in relation to May 2008) for raw materials of Oil refinery (-37.9%), Metallurgy (-21.6%), Timber Industry (-3.5%) and Electric Material (-1.9%).
