Regular Internet users in A. C. of the Basque Country, first of all, opt for the websites offered by the media, followed by those relating to leisure, institutions, electronic banking and travel, according to the data for the second quarter of 2007.

The website with the most hits continues to be “elcorreodigital.com”, as 10.7% of the total Internet users visit that space, which comes to a total of 73,500 hits. The next newspapers in terms of hits are "diariovasco.com”, with a percentage of 7.5% and marca.es with 4.8%.

After the media websites, the most popular category are leisure-related messenger sites, such as “hotmail.com”, mentioned by 4.6% of Internet users.

The Basque Public Administration continues to make its way up the ranking of most visited websites. It moved up from seventh to fifth position in the second quarter of 2007.

The Basque Government website D “euskadi.eus”) is in a key position, as it had 4% of the total hits and has moved up from seventh to fifth post in the second quarter of 2007 – 8,500 new hits.

After the Basque Government website, the most requested sites are the online services provided by the banks for their customers: “kutxa.net”, with a percentage of 3.6% of hits, “bbk.es” receives 2.7% of the hits and “cajalaboral.es” 1.5%. However, they have moved down the ranking in relation to the previous quarter.

Special mention should be made of the improved performance of "youtube.com", which moved up from 14 to 8, and the bursting into of "wikipedia.org" into the top 20, with 13,200 hits, which was nearly twice the number in the previous quarter, and "inforjob.com which, with 13,800 hits, is at number 16 in the ranking.

96.8% of Internet users in the Basque Country use “Google” as the search engine

Google is the preferred search engine of Internet users in the Basque Country and it has ousted the other search engines. 96.8% of this collective, which stands at over 850,000 Internet user aged 15 and over, use Google, compared to 2.1% that resort to Yahoo and 0.4% to Terra. The number of people using Google in one year has increased by 95,000 people.
