The General Index of Construction Costs of the A.C. of the Basque Country did not vary in September 2002 according to Eustat data. The inter-annual variation, September 2002 compared to September 2001, came to a 2.0% increase and the rate of variation for the first nine months of the year went up 2.8% compared to last December.

In September, raw material costs registered a 0.1% increase, while labour costs remained stable. However, in the inter-annual period labour costs registered a 4.0% increase compared with a 0.7% rise in raw material prices.
The subsectors "Building" and "Civil Works" have had a similar evolution in September, with 0.3% growth in raw material costs for the subsector "Civil Works" and no variaiton in the costs of the subsector "Building" (0.0%). However, the most noticeable differences are found on analysing the inter-annual evolution, with rates of 0.6% in "Building" and 1.2% in "Civil Works" compared with September 2001.
Among the prices of raw materials most consumed by the sector that have experienced highest increases in September 2002 are: "Oil by-products" (4.5%), "Asphalt products" (1.4%) and "Explosives and gases" (0.9%), among others.
The inter-annual evolution of prices mark more significant rises among the costs of the following products consumed: "Accessories for machinery used" (6.9%), "Artificial cement" (5.9%), "Other metal articles" (4.2%) and "Mining Arids" (2.4%), among others.
