This characteristic defines the nature of the working relationship between the population in work and the company where they work, referring to their main occupation on the reference date. For the unemployed population who worked previously, it refers to the nature of the working relationship prior to unemployment.

The following groups are considered:

  • Entrepreneurs: those who are self-employed and employ staff.
  • Self-employed individuals: those who are self-employed and do not employ staff.
  • Members of cooperatives: those who belong to a cooperative.
  • Permanent employees: employees who work for a salary, daily wage, commission or any other type of remuneration, on a permanent basis.
  • Temporary employees: employees who work for a salary, daily wage, commission or any other type of remuneration, on a temporary or interim basis.
  • Family helpers: those who do work without regulated pay in the company or business of a relative.
  • Other situations.
