Unemployed population

Includes the population that declares directly or indirectly - by being included on an administrative register - that they are not working on the reference date, but are looking for work, are available for work and are classified as follows:

  • Unemployed population seeking first employment: individuals who haven't worked previously and are seeking their first employment.
  • Unemployed population who has worked: includes the following cases:
    • Individuals who have worked previously but are not in employment (due to dismissal, resignation, etc.) and are looking for paid employment.
    • Individuals whose work contract is temporarily or indefinitely suspended, are available for employment and are seeking paid work.
  • Those individuals who are retired or have previously worked in a family business without pay who meet the requirement of seeking paid work and are available to start work, are also considered unemployed.
