objectives
the main purpose of these statistics is to provide information about greenhouse gas emissions (gge) in the basque country with a view to keeping track of progress made reaching the targets set in the 2050 climate change strategy of the basque country.
main variables to be studied
emissions in equivalent tonnes of co2 by type of gas: carbon dioxide (co2), methane (ch4), nitrous oxide (n2o), hydrofluorocarbons (hfcs), perfluorocarbons (pfcs) and sulfur hexafluoride (sf6).
emissions in equivalent tonnes of co2 by sector: energy sector (direct emissions + emissions associated with electricity imports), industry, transport, residential, services, agriculture and waste.
emissions in equivalent tonnes of co2 by source of emission: energy transformation, industry, transport, residential, services, agriculture and waste.
emissions in equivalent tonnes of co2 by crf sections (common reporting format): energy; industrial processes; use of solvents and other products; agriculture; waste; and electricity originating from external sources.
coverage
- population:
-
anthropogenic emissions, both direct and total, of the gases controlled by the kyoto protocol. calculations of the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions for the basque country include emissions associated with electricity imports as indicated by the ipcc.
the 6 greenhouse gases (or families of gases) that are restricted by the kyoto protocol are carbon dioxide (co2), methane (ch4), nitrous oxide (n2o), the family of hydrofluorocarbons (hfcs), the family of perfluorocarbons (pfcs) and sulfur hexafluoride (sf6) the base year used to calculate the quantities assigned for the kyoto protocol commitment is 1990 for co2, ch4 and n2o and 1995 for all the fluorinated gases (hfcs, pfcs and sf6)
- geographical:
-
significant values at the basque country level are gathered.
