The main objectives of the survey are:

1. Detailed knowledge of the Basque industrial structure.

2. To obtain the main macro figures for the sector, which is an essential basis for developing the Input - Output Tables and Economic Accounts.

3. Use as a basis for obtaining current indicators developed by the EUSTAT such as: Industrial Production Index, Industrial Price Indices, Survey on the Current Situation of the Construction Sector and the Construction Costs Index.

4. To provide the economic agents with a useful and valid instrument for economic analysis which is so vital in this period of very short economic cycles.

The reference population are those establishments whose main activity, measured in terms of generated value added, is industrial, also including those secondary activities carried out by companies, whether industrial or service providers.

According to the National Classification of Economic Activities (CNAE 2009) this includes the following sections:

B: Mining industries

C: Industria manufacturera

D: Energia elektrikoaren, gasaren, lurrinaren eta aire girotuaren hornidura

E: Ur hornidura, saneamendu jarduerak, hondakinen kudeaketa eta deskontaminazioa

Geographic scope:
The statistics that are located in the geographic area of the Basque Country.
The reference period is the economic year of the natural year. Exceptionally, when establishments are presented whose accounting refers to periods of time that do not correspond to the natural year, the information will be referred to accounting years that end within the corresponding years.
